District 117  will move to Phase 2 of their Return-To-School planning:

The District 117 Return to School Task Force met over the weekend to discuss the transition criteria to move from Phase 1 to Phase 2 of the return-to-school plan.

Given the data represented below in this news release and our current logistical capacity, the District will transition to Phase 2 of our plan starting Tuesday, September 8th.  The District has worked very closely with the Return to School Taskforce, which includes a broad representation of stakeholders and has taken its role and responsibility very seriously.

Group A1 will begin on Tuesday, September 8th, Group A2 will return on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 9-10.  Friday, September 11th, is scheduled for individual student assistance and interventions. The following week of September 14th, Group B will return to in-person instruction, and so on. The District will follow the A/B/C weekly rotation until further notice. The in-person student experience will be different from pre-COVID-19 times; please be patient as the teaching staff adjusts to this new teaching and learning method.

We know the COVID-19 virus continues to be a part of our communities. Through the District's numerous safety features, policies, and practices, we manage its spread and impact on our schools and community.  The District will continue to adjust to the ever-changing State guidance and is working diligently to provide the very best school experience for your student/s while maintaining a safe work environment for our helpful staff.

Our communities' individual and collective behavior regarding complying with actions that mitigate the spread of this disease will only help us return more fully to school.  Disregarding public health measures such as (3 W's) wearing masks, washing hands, and watching your distance will only delay our efforts to return fully to school. Your cooperation is needed and appreciated.

It is essential to note that while the District does have a thorough blended remote learning plan, we are also preparing for the possibility of full remote learning given the very fluid nature of the COVID–19 pandemic.

Should you have any questions, please reach out to your building administration. We ask for your continued patience and flexibility as we move forward.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jim McKay Superintendent
