District 117 Community Members,
Community High School District #117 is excited to announce this call for community volunteers to serve on our 2026 Strategic Planning Coalition. Follow this link to submit your name as a candidate! In the spring of 2023, we formed a large community coalition to develop our District 117 Portrait of a Graduate. You can follow this link to watch the student-created video to get caught up on what we did in 2023. Now we are getting the band back together and we are looking for new members!
We will select up to 75 volunteers to join the coalition. The selection process will identify a diverse group of stakeholders that includes students, staff, current parents/guardians, alumni, community members who do not currently have students in our schools, and representatives from community businesses, organizations, and higher education.

What is the Commitment to serve as a member of the coalition?
Volunteers are asked to commit to attending both Coalition meetings, which will include a light dinner.
Meeting #1 - Tuesday, March 17, 2026 - 5:30-8:30 pm in the Antioch Community High School Cafeteria
Meeting #2 - Tuesday, April 14, 2026 - 5:30-8:30 pm in the Lakes Community High School Cafeteria

What will the Coalition accomplish?
The Coalition will review District 117’s progress in advancing the six Portrait of a Graduate competencies and provide feedback to support continued growth and improvement.

Will I receive anything for participating?
You will not receive any compensation for participating, but your name will be included in the final presentation of the strategic plan update when it is presented to our School Board.

Please submit your name as a candidate to serve on this coalition if your schedule allows you to commit to attending both meetings. We will select up to 75 volunteers, balancing the selections to ensure representation of students, staff, current parents/guardians, alumni, community members who do not currently have students in our schools, and representatives from community businesses, organizations, and higher education.
We will contact those who are selected to serve on or before February 20.
