We are excited to welcome all of our students back for the first full day of school tomorrow! This is the August edition of a monthly update wherein you will receive timely reminders, links for upcoming events, and news from Community High School District #117. We promise to keep this to a 5 minute read (or less!)!

1. October Parent-Teacher Conferences Will Be Reserved for Invited Students
As part of our new District 117 Strategic Plan, our School Board has charged us with goals that hold us accountable for providing the best educational opportunities to our students. We are excited with the positive response we have received regarding our strategic plan, and have started the work required to chase these new goals as an organization!
One of our new Board goals is to increase parent engagement by meeting with the parents/guardians of students who have grades less than 70% at our Fall Parent Teacher Conferences in October. Focusing our fall conferences on these students will allow us to spend more time discussing ways to get these students back on track, and in the process, help all of our students have a productive experience in their courses during the second half of the semester.
While we will only accommodate these invited parents at the fall Parent-Teacher Conferences, we want all of our families to know they are always welcome to reach out to schedule a meeting or phone call with your student’s teachers at any time during the school year. 2. Next Thursday Night is the Opportunity for All Families to Meet Their Student’s Teachers
We want to see all parents and guardians at “Back to School Night” next Thursday, August 24 where they will be able to follow their student’s schedule and put a face to the name of all of their student’s teachers! Please plan to arrive at the school by 6:15 so you have time to park and find your first period class that starts at 6:30 PM!
